Virus nomenclature
The primary mission of JSV is to advance virology and related fields. To this end, the society communicates and cooperates with both national and international societies, communities, organizations associated with JSV. Therefore, JSV requires the use of the International Committee of Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) rules of orthography in writing virus names in English. In writing virus names in Japanese, JSV encourages to follow the rules of orthography set and widely accepted by related societies and communities.
