The provision of honorary membership
  1. Qualifications: Those who satisfy either of the following conditions
    1)A person who has notably contributed to advancement of virology in Japan.
    2)A person who has contributed to the operation of the Japanese Society for Virology (e.g. a person who has served as the Chairman of the Board or the Chairman of the annual academic conference).

  2. Privileges: Honorary member is exempt from membership dues and registration Fees for the annual academic conferences, but enjoys the advantages of regular Members (receives the journal “Virus” and has the right to attend and speak in various meetings). An honorary member has the right to nominate councilmember-to-be, but does not have the right to vote nor have eligibility to be elected in the board of directors elections.
  3. Nomination procedure: A member of the Society submits recommendation of candidate(s) to the board of directors, then the board of directors makes a decision after deliberation and report the results at the general assembly.
