The International AIDS Society (IAS) and the National Institutes of Health
(NIH) are pleased to announce a scholarship programme aimed at introducing
basic and experimental scientists from other disciplines to the field of HIV
research. The scholarship includes travel to and participation in IAS2009 in
Cape Town in July 2009. It also includes a one-day meeting with the world's
leading HIV researchers on the latest in HIV basic science, pathogenesis and
epidemiology.
Scholarship application deadline is May 19, 2009.
Eligible Candidates Applicants for the scholarship programme should:
* have an earned doctoral degree in medicine or biomedical sciences and
completed a minimum of two years post doctoral training * have documented
scientific record that includes peer-reviewed publications * not currently
be active in the HIV field * have received their doctoral degree within the
last five years in the following disciplines: Molecular and cellular
biology; Immunology; Virology; Pharmacology; Genomics/Genetics/Gene
technology; Structural biology; Microbiology; Parasitology;
Chemistry/Biochemistry; Infectious disease; Biotechnology
In an effort to reach scientific networks that are currently not involved
with HIV research, we would like to ask for your help actively promoting the
scholarship programme. With your help, we can reach a maximum number of
scientists and make this programme a success.
